| The first settlers to arrive in this region were the Strawbridge, Rutherford, Roberts, McCall and Beltzhoover families. Land grants sold to the settlers by the state were purchased for as little as 22 cents an acre. The early settlers found this area was ideal for farming, with beautiful streams and numerous springs, plenty of fish and game, and heavily supplied timber. |
