Bike Patrol

The task of patrolling communities in order to keep them safe is one that often requires both courage and hard work. In Castle Shannon, this mission is often made more difficult by both the terrain and the close proximity of homes in the community.

Working with State Senator Timothy F. Murphy, the Castle Shannon Police Department secured a grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development totaling $8,000. These funds were used to create a neighborhood bicycle patrol, allowing greater police presence in local parks the business districts and in large crowds during community events.

These bicycle patrols promise to greatly increase the effectiveness of police patrols, making communities safer places to live.
