Senator James Brewster Office Hours
Senator James Brewster's Office will be hosting Satellite Office Hours at the Castle Shannon Municipal Center on Monday, March 18th from 10:00am-2:00pm. These Office Hours will take place on the third Monday of every month. No appointment is needed to attend.
Columbia Gas Utility Work Updates
Columbia Gas will start work excavating a section of Middleboro Road beginning Tuesday, February 13th. This will take approximately 4-5 days to complete. This is part of the overall tie-in plan with Willow Avenue. Columbia Gas has their final tie-ins and the major Willow Avenue work scheduled to begin Wednesday, February 21st – Friday, February 23rd. Traffic may be impacted by this work, but it is not expected.
Trash and Recycling Service Day Changes
Some residents will see a change in the day of their trash and recycling services, beginning the week of January 8th. Please see the below documents for the list of changes by street name, as well as the 2024 Waste Management schedule.

Waste Management Automated Service
Beginning in spring of 2024, we will start Automated Collection services through Waste Management. All residents will receive new trash and recycling carts in the next few months. Residents will also receive more information on the new process in the mail from Waste Management.

PA American Water to Begin Roadwork on Greenridge Road
Casper Colosimo and Son Inc. will be completing the first phase of the Pennsylvania American Water Company project which will involve the installation of a new watermain on Greenridge Rd. The project begins at Connor Rd and ends at the intersection of Vermont Rd. The scheduled start date is December 12, 2023, with the saw cutting of the pavement. This phase is expected to be completed by January 12, 2024, weather permitting. Residents will have access during work hours. 7 AM - 5 PM Monday thru Friday. The work will take place between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturday and night work until further notice. Park Rentals for 2024
Park rental application will begin being accepted on Wednesday, November 8th, 2024. This will be in person only, at the Municipal Center beginning at 8:30am. Riehl Park can be booked at this time, with a wait list for Hamilton Park. Please see the attached document for more information, and a list of items you must have in order to book a date.

The Borough of Castle Shannon, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, requested proposals for a one-time contract to perform certain professional services (consulting) work for the Borough involving a Construction Design Planning Grant under the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Keystone Communities (KC) Program.The Request for Proposals (RFP) was sent on July 11, 2023; Requests for Information (RFI) were to be received by August 11, 2023, and posted on the Borough website. Willow Avenue Road Work and Closures
PA American Water Co. will be restoring the street and sidewalks on lower Willow, from Castle Shannon Boulevard to the PRT tracks next to McMinn’s. Work will begin Monday, July 31, and take approximately 2 weeks. Please see the below attachment for more information.

As part of our commitment to provide safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is making a significant investment to replace natural gas pipelines in your neighborhood. This work mainly affects customers along portions of Oregon Trail, Conner Road, Willow Avenue, Bockstoce Avenue, and James Street. The work is expected to begin soon between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturday and night work possible. Motorists can expect road closures and lane restrictions during working hours only. We will have an official start date for this project soon.
