A building (zoning) permit is required for most construction performed, both commercial and residential. Zoning permits can be picked up in the Planning & Codes office or downloaded here. Some construction requires our third party agency, Building Inspection Underwriters (BIU) to perform the inspections. BIU requires their own permit applications which can be found on their website at BIU PA.
All permit applications must be submitted with plans for the project.
APPROVED PERMIT CARDS MUST BE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED IN A WINDOW VISIBLE FROM THE STREET. COPIES OF APPROVED PLANS WITH THE INSPECTOR’S NOTES MUST BE ON CONSTRUCTION SITE AT ALL TIMES.
