Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department

The all-volunteer force, organized in 1922, has 60 active and 22 retired firefighters.

The fire company recently began providing fire protection for Baldwin Township residents after that community’s fire department disbanded. Firefighting equipment includes a 100-foot aerial platform truck, three fire engines, one squad car and a chief’s car.

All firefighters are required to attend fire-prevention classes and presents fire prevention programs to school children and conducts business inspections.
