Commercial/Business Recycling
Statewide recycling in Pennsylvania began in 1988 with the Municipal Waste Planning Recycling and Waste Reduction Act (Act 101) that requires larger municipalities to recycle.
All commercial businesses must establish private recycling pick up for your facility. Recycling is mandatory for all commercial, municipal and institutional establishments in the Borough of Castle Shannon in accordance with Borough of Castle Shannon Ordinance #746 Regulating the Collection and Recycling of Recyclable Materials.
Commercial, municipal and institutional establishments and community activities shall be required to recycle in accordance with the provisions of the Borough of Castle Shannon Recycling Ordinance, the following items:
- High grade office paper
- Aluminum
- Bi-metal cans
- Corrugated paper
- Leaf waste.
